After several delays and a scrub a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launches the SXM 7 satellite for SiriusXM on December 13, 2020 at 12:20 p.m. from SLC-40, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. The satellite will replace the XM 3 satellite in SiriusXM’s fleet providing satellite radio programming to consumers across North America. SXM 7, built by Maxar Technologies, features a large unfurlable S-band reflector to broadcast radio signals to users on the ground.

Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage landed on SpaceX drone ship “Just Read The Instructions” stationed several hundred miles offshore in the Atlantic Ocean.
