The new Disney Cruise Line ship arrived in Port Canaveral before dawn this morning, escorted by a flotilla of tugboats and the Port Canaveral Fire Rescue Fireboat 2 which provided the traditional water cannon salute.

Disney Wish is Disney Cruise Line’s fifth ship, and the first of three new vessels that are scheduled to join the fleet through 2025. It’s about 144,000 gross registered tons, and holds 1,250 guest staterooms — slightly larger than Disney’s previous newest ship, the 2012-built Disney Fantasy.

New and unique features of the ship include AquaMouse — an amplified version of the AquaDuck water coaster with its own storyline, a Moana-inspired suite in the ship’s funnel, a slide from the atrium down to the Oceaneer kids’ club, and a Avengers-themed main dining experience.

Wish is the first ship in the Disney fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas, which is a cleaner burning fossil fuel. Port Canaveral is currently the only cruise port in North America that supports the LNG fueling of ships.

The ship’s official inaugural sailing is scheduled for July 14, 2022. It will offer three and four-night voyages to the Bahamas, which all include a stop at Disney Cruise Line’s private island Castaway Cay.
