4 August 2007 - A Delta 2 rocket blasts off from Cape Canaveral's launch pad 17A at 5:26 a.m. EST with NASA's Mars Phoenix spacecraft.
Phoenix will be on a nine-month journey to Mars where it will use a mechanical arm to dig trenches in icy soil and test samples for evidence of past or present primitive life.
