17 February 2007 - A Delta 2 rocket blasts off from Cape Canaveral's launch pad 17B at 6:01 p.m. EST with a record payload of five NASA science satellites. A launch attempt was scrubbed the day before due to high altitude winds gusting to 140 mph.

The five THEMIS (Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms) satellites will be used to study the development of large energy releases called "substorms" in the Earth's magnetosphere..
