January 31, 2018 - SLC-40, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station:
At 4:25p.m. EDT, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launches the GovSat 1 communications satellite for LuxGovSat, a joint venture between SES and the government of Luxembourg. The GovSat 1 satellite, also known as SES 16, will provide secure military X-band and Ka-band communications links, helping support Luxembourg’s NATO obligations. The Falcon 9 rocket launches with a previously-flown first stage, which executed a soft splashdown several hundred miles out in the Atlantic, and will be towed back to Port Canaveral.
