On June 30, 2020 at 4:10 p.m. EST, SpaceX launched the third GPS 3-series satellite, designated GPS 3 SV03, from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida.

The launch of the third in a new line of upgraded Global Positioning System navigation satellites was the first by SpaceX for the U.S. Space Force. The satellite adds fresh capabilities to the GPS network while replacing an aging spacecraft launched more than 20 years ago.

Following stage separation, the Falcon 9 booster touched down on SpaceX’s drone ship “Just Read The Instructions” positioned around 400 miles off Cape Canaveral in the Atlantic Ocean.
