On June 17, 2021 at 12:09 p.m. EST, SpaceX launched the fifth GPS 3-series satellite, designated GPS 3 SV05, from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

The launch is the fifth in a new line of upgraded Global Positioning System navigation satellites that will add fresh capabilities to the GPS network while replacing an aging spacecraft launched more than 20 years ago.

Following stage separation, the Falcon 9 booster touched down on SpaceX’s droneship Just Read The Instructions positioned several hundred miles off Cape Canaveral in the Atlantic Ocean.
