A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launches the Turksat 5A communications satellite for Turksat, a Turkish satellite operator, on January 7, 2021 at 9:15 p.m. from SLC-40 Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. Built by Airbus Defense, the Turkish 5A satellite will provide Ku-band television broadcast services over Turkey, the Middle East, Europe and Africa.

Following stage separation, Falcon 9’s first stage landed on SpaceX drone ship “Just Read The Instructions” stationed several hundred miles offshore in the Atlantic Ocean.

Photos taken from SR 528 causeway, about 11.5 miles away.
